Why We Do It

Many high school  or college students participate in a Outdoor Experiential Education course which provides exposure to mountains, rivers, rock, adventure, communities, possibly a new lifestyle. These courses can change perspective, confidence levels, and appreciation for our natural world.  Here are a few statements from the Outward Bound Website,

Testimonials

“The greatest experience of my life where I was able to find myself and appreciate who I am and what I can offer the world.”  – Emma B.

“I have been on two Outward Bound courses. I wouldn’t trade those experiences for anything. Through Outward Bound, I have discovered I am much stronger than I thought. My courses made me dig deep into myself to discover who I really am. Every activity pushed me to discover where the boundaries of my courage lie. Through Outward Bound, I have been able to accomplish so much, not just on my courses but in life as well. Outward Bound is an experience of a lifetime. I had so much fun while making lifelong friends. I credit part of who I am today to Outward Bound. Thank you OB!”  – Bryce O.

Understanding it

I have been approached with questions regarding risk and “why we do it” from parents who want answers after a loss. Loving adventure, mountains, bonding with friends, and challenges are part of it but the passion and intensity is different for everyone. Included within this site are many different aspects to help understand adventure enthusiast. Articles I’ve included question limits, danger, and risk.  Please read articles that I share explaining the reasoning behind our endeavors.

“It is only in adventure that some people succeed in knowing themselves- in finding themselves” Andre Gide.
