SOAR’s Story
Starr started SOAR after experiencing outdoor trauma and loss of her own. Throughout her healing, she sought resources but found few tailored to her unique experiences. Starr wanted to make sure others were not alone in their healing after outdoor incidents.
Why we do it
We have been approached with questions regarding risk and "why we do it" from parents who want answers after a loss. Loving adventure, mountains, bonding with friends, and challenges are part of it but the passion and intensity is different for everyone. Included within this site are many different aspects to help understand adventure enthusiast. Articles I've included question limits, danger, and risk. Please read articles that I share explaining the reasoning behind our endeavors.

Mission
The mission of SOAR is to support survivors and communities in healing after outdoor accidents by creating connections to peers, knowledge, and outdoor trauma-informed care
Vision
SOAR envisions a connected and resilient outdoor community where recreationists and professionals have access to the resources they need following emotional, physical or traumatic loss and grief in the outdoors
Values
Connection- SOAR prioritizes human connections and develops programming to facilitate strong relationships
Resilience- SOAR is committed to all forms of resilience in the outdoor community and works to support prevention and responsiveness to traumatic incidents
Adaptable- SOAR values aligning programming with current community needs and adapts to meet those needs
Autonomy- SOAR supports individuals in pursuing their own vision for healing based on their identity and needs
