Provider cohort
SOAR has created a cohort of providers who speak the language of outdoor trauma and grief and have a true understanding of outdoor adventures and the risks associated. This group includes therapists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, bodyworkers, and coaches. The provider cohort’s aim is two-fold: to ensure survivors and communities can access quality care and to ensure providers are connected to a professional network dedicated to this serving this population.

COLORADO
Jenny Fiebig, MS, NCC,LCPC/LPC, Durango, CO
I’ve been a floating head disconnected from the world and society, with a hamster wheel brain running on self doubt, overwhelm and adrenaline. I thought this was normal and that I was the problem. Yet, at the bottom of a canyon, toes in the red earth or planning my line from the top of a peak, I wasn’t overcome by the same cycle of thoughts and feelings. I began to wonder why, if there wasn’t something I was missing. Through a lifelong pursuit of adventure, innate curiosity and a lot of hard work I started to grow into living from a place of self compassion and trust. I learned how the parts of myself I’d hated had been working so hard for me and I forgave myself. I began to feel real connection again not just to tall pines on my favorite hike but to those most important to me—including myself. And now my work is dedicated to helping you do the same. Based in Durango, Colorado, I am a licensed therapist specializing in Internal Family Systems working with clients in Colorado & Montana.

Danielle Beamer, LSW, Crested Butte, CO
People and their stories fascinate me. I knew from a young age I wanted to be a therapist, but I took a twisting path to get here. That path taught me that mountain people are my people and that rural mountain communities are special places with their own challenges. I chose to study social work because I believe in its systemic approach and focus on social justice. As a therapist, I focus on the importance of autonomy, ensuring folks feel seen without judgment, and eliminating expectations about the process. From my experience, healing often requires allowing the hard, sticky, revolting, and unwanted emotions to create space for the pleasurable ones. It’s natural to need support through that process. I value joining the body, mind, and emotional realms, practical neuroscience and am trained Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy and trauma-informed care. I also see cultural context and intersectional identities as key in understanding folks and developing therapeutic goals that fit their lives and lived experiences. One of my passions is supporting survivors of outdoor trauma, such as avalanches and wilderness accidents. I work with survivors to understand trauma, maintain community and integrate these life changing experiences. As I learn to take myself less seriously and slow down, I am a big proponent of bringing humor and creative modalities into therapy as well. When I’m not counseling, I obsess over poetry and the power of the written word, and I adventure on my skis, bike, packraft, or feet. I rarely pass up a game of cribbage and I find endless delight in miniature things.

Lauren Glass, LPC, NCC, Durango, CO
I’m originally from the soggy Pacific Northwest and have lived around the West, currently calling the sunny Four Corners home. In my early career, I worked extensively in the outdoor industry, leading and managing recreation and conservation programs. Currently I continue to support outdoor communities through mental health consulting, workshops, and educational training. Populations I particularly enjoy working with include those between the ages of 20-40, queer folks, people who have experienced outdoor trauma or accidents, and those in transitions. My therapeutic approach uses a strengths-based, relational, and holistic lens. My work is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and Attachment Theory. I often utilize creative based, experiential, and somatic interventions as ways for my clients to feel into and embody new ways of being. Outside of work you’ll find me baking in my kitchen, throwing pottery at the wheel, skiing, mountain biking, and generally rambling in the mountains in search of great spots to see the sunrise.

Karen Dunn Pritchard, LPC Unfold Counseling, Montrose, CO
My approach is built on a core belief that you are a self-healing being. Unfortunately, you and I both often find ourselves without the space and support that we need to fully process our experiences, to heal and to grow, and we get a little stuck. As a therapist, I help you create more space in your life, build skills, and find support, allowing you to get unstuck and to “unfold” toward your inherent wholeness and health as a human being.… And a bit about me, as a person: I am a Colorado born-and-bred ‘mountain girl’ from Durango, and feel fortunate to live and work in such a beautiful place. I love the outdoors, and often bring aspects of its healing power into my work with clients. Creative and visual arts have had a strong influence on me as well. I am passionate about the capacity for healing that therapy can offer and feel much gratitude to be able to do this work. I hope to make contact with you soon!

Elizabeth Koutrelakos, LCSW, NBC-HWC
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach living in the Jackson community since 2009, I see nature as one avenue to promote healing and growth. I work with individuals to build bridges in connection with themselves and the community. Previous experience working with youth and adults in wilderness settings helped to develop adaptability in changing environments and situations. My experience working in community mental health has provided me with a range of practice engaging with children and adults, both individually and in group settings. I also serve as a mental health resource for the American Alpine Club Climbing Grief Fund. You are seeking counseling, which may mean you feel overwhelmed or as though your normal ways of managing things are no longer working. As an LCSW, I help individuals find the inner expert of themselves. I believe that people intrinsically have the strengths to lead happy and productive lives but are sometimes unable to leverage those internal resources when faced with adversities such as loss, trauma, depression or anxiety. I work with people as they understand their own personal struggles to help them address past issues that contribute to their present mindset and develop strategies using their internal resources. My specialties include working with children and adolescents experiencing anxiety, depression, and self-harm behaviors and adults who have experienced trauma, grief and loss. I am trained in a variety of treatment techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), DBT, CBT and mindfulness.

My clients may also be coaches, athletes, survivors of disasters, veterans, or other first responders. I am an Internal Family Systems therapist and fully trained in EMDR.
